OUR COACHES

All GYB coaches are dedicated volunteers with strong basketball backgrounds, including high school, college, or professional experience. Many actively play in the Women's Basketball League, serving as great role models. Each coach undergoes a background check and attends our mandatory clinic every season. Their top priority is the safety and development of the girls, and their motivation comes from a genuine commitment to the players they coach.

Basketball has been a huge part of my life since I first started playing in 4th grade, and I’ve continued to play throughout my high school years. I’ve had the opportunity to assist coaches in working with middle school basketball teams, as well as younger age groups, helping develop players' skills and confidence on the court. Having once played in GYB myself, I know firsthand how much this program means to young athletes, and I’m excited to give back as a coach. Coach Jen Jen and Coach Love, my current high school coaches, encouraged me to step into this role, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to help guide and mentor the next generation of players. My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment where every player feels motivated to improve, learn, and most importantly—have fun playing the game they love.

COACH ATIYA

My coaching journey began during my first year of law school when I had the opportunity to lead an 8-9-year-old co-ed team. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to coach multiple seasons with GYB, where I share my passion for the game and help young athletes develop their skills. Although I stopped playing competitively in ninth grade due to a medical condition, basketball has remained a significant part of my life. I continue to play recreationally in the HERoes league, which keeps me connected to the sport I love. Coaching allows me to introduce kids to basketball in a fun and engaging way, while also teaching them fundamental skills. More than anything, I want my players to see basketball as a game to enjoy, not just something to master. Fun fact: I was in the movie Love & Basketball! ❤️🏀😬

COACH AVA

Hi, I’m Ava! I’m currently a freshman at Coronado High School, where I play on the women’s varsity basketball team. I’ve been passionate about basketball since I was seven, starting with the GYB program and later moving up to play on club travel teams. Unfortunately, halfway through my high school season, I tore my ACL, which means I’m out for nine months. While I can’t play this season, I’m incredibly excited to be a coach and help the girls in this league develop a love for the game. I’m eager to share my knowledge, passion, and encouragement with the players to help them become the best version of themselves, both on and off the court. A few fun facts about me: I dream of playing Division I college basketball, I love photography, and my favorite subject in school is biology!

COACH BELLA

Hi, I’m Bella Robinson, a proud former GYB player and now a high school scholar-athlete! This past season, I led Nevada in scoring with 29.3 points per game while also averaging 10.3 rebounds, 8.6 steals, and 5.2 assists, reaching a huge milestone of 1,000 career points during my junior year (2024-2025). I was honored to be named 3A Southern Conference MVP, 3A All-State First Team, and a member of the 2025 Nevada Preps All-Southern Team, and my competitive drive extends beyond basketball—I also made it to state in both golf and swimming! GYB helped shape me into the player and person I am today, and I’m beyond excited to inspire the next generation of athletes just like me!

Hey everyone, I’m Coach B (Brenna) I grew up around basketball, playing in my first league when I was in third grade and continuing all the way through high school, where I spent four years on the varsity team. Although an ACL injury prevented me from playing in college, my love for basketball has remained a lifelong passion. Coaching gives me the opportunity to help young girls discover their confidence and self-love through a game that has had such a profound impact on my life. I truly believe that basketball teaches some of the toughest and most important life lessons, and I’m excited to share my passion for the game and create a fun, supportive environment for the players this season! 🏀

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, and basketball has been a part of my life since the 3rd grade. My dad coached my teams up until high school, where I had the honor of playing Varsity basketball all four years. Being part of a team and working toward a common goal has always brought me immense joy, and basketball has taught me discipline, perseverance, and valuable life lessons that extend beyond the court. To stay connected with the game, I played in college recreational leagues and coached two elementary boys' teams during that time. I’ve also had the privilege of coaching my adult daughters in their recreational leagues here in Henderson. For the past three seasons, I’ve been coaching with GYB, and I continue to play in a women’s league to stay actively involved in the sport. It's been incredibly rewarding to coach my youngest daughter and witness young girls discover and develop a love for the game of basketball each season. I'm excited for another season of coaching and helping these players grow both on and off the court.

I’m excited to begin my coaching journey this season, and while I don’t have coaching experience yet, I’m eager to get started and make a positive impact! I’ve been playing basketball for 12 years, starting in second grade, and I currently play for CSN, where I just completed my freshman year. I also had the privilege of playing in the GYB program when I was younger. My passion for coaching was sparked by my high school coach, who I greatly admire and respect. She left such a profound impact on me, and I hope to inspire the girls I coach in a similar way. Despite this being my first coaching experience, I am dedicated to helping the players grow and develop both on and off the court. Fun fact: This past season, I was named Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year in my conference, and earned All-American honors. I was also ranked the #2 freshman for JUCO basketball in the country! I’m looking forward to bringing my love for the game and passion for helping others to this coaching role.

I have been passionate about basketball from a very young age, earning a spot on my high school varsity team as a freshman and helping them reach the City Championship Finals. My solid foundation in the fundamentals of the game propelled me to play at the collegiate level. Unfortunately, an early knee surgery interrupted my dream of pursuing professional basketball, but my love for the game never faded. I transitioned into coaching, starting with the Boys and Girls Club, where my team won back-to-back championships in my first two seasons, sparking a new passion for coaching. When both of my daughters decided to play basketball, I became dedicated to coaching their youth team, finding immense joy in helping young players develop their skills. In my first season with GYB, I witnessed remarkable growth in the girls’ abilities, both individually and as a team. Their competitive spirit and teamwork were truly inspiring. I believe strongly in the GYB program and its positive impact on young athletes. As I look forward to another season, I am excited to continue guiding and mentoring the next generation of basketball players. Let’s go GYB!

I have been passionate about basketball since I first picked up a ball at the age of 7, playing in various recreational leagues and continuing through high school. While my coaching experience began in 2017 with middle school girls' travel basketball, my love for the game and desire to coach has always been a driving force in my life. This is why coaching is so meaningful to me—I aim to bring both knowledge and enjoyment to practices while instilling values that will help my players succeed both on and off the court. Team: LIBERTY

I bring a wealth of basketball experience and a deep passion for mentoring young athletes. Having played from elementary school through the collegiate level, including competitive AAU basketball, I understand the dedication and skill development needed to excel. While in college, I worked extensively with youth at basketball camps, focusing on fundamentals, leadership, and communication. My experience at the Swinomish Youth Center in Washington further strengthened my connection with young athletes, as I led small-group training sessions emphasizing shooting, defense, conditioning, and footwork. Though I am new to an official coaching staff, I am eager to share my basketball knowledge and inspire the next generation of players. Parents can feel confident that their child will be guided by a coach who is not only experienced but also deeply committed to fostering growth, confidence, and a love for the game.

Basketball has played a significant role in my life for many years, both as a player and a coach. I have had the privilege of coaching middle school basketball and being actively involved in the GYB organization for several seasons. My passion for coaching stems from the incredible journey of witnessing the continuous development of our players—improving day after day, week after week, and season after season. It has been incredibly rewarding to see athletes progress from first-time players to competing at the collegiate level. Being part of their growth and contributing to their journey is truly a privilege, and I am grateful to be involved in this amazing organization. I look forward to another season of helping these young athletes reach their full potential.
